“I need new shoes and a new suit” Brandon tells me as we walk into Topshop. He’s always been obsessed with Topman, as long as I’ve known him. We head up the stairs of the two-story Topshop in The Grove, where every Topman employee already knows Brandon’s name. He picks out black and white loafers, but has a hard time deciding if he should get them because they only have them in a half-size too small. “If I can moon walk in them, then we’re in business,” he tells me. He decides to pass on the shoes for today so he can order them in the correct size online. We head to the suit section instead. Of all the color and pattern selections, he already owns half of them. He decides he needs the tan suit and tries it on. “What do you think? Should I get it?” What I say has no meaning because in his head he has already decided to buy it.
