Our resident event coordinator Maceo put together a fantastic dinner discussion event last week for creative professionals to talk how they handle work and life. We had everyone from freelance photographers to florists to former circus clowns all sharing the same issues, like how to balance a creative, often entrepreneurial job, with having a personal life and some alone time. We discussed having your creative outlet becoming your job, so you find a new creative outlet, then that becomes a new job, branding yourself on social media, the benefits and detriments of working with friends, and a number of other engaging topics while sipping wine and enjoying a three course meal from Chef Keith.


My favorite personal anecdote of the night was from a British girl who moved to Los Angeles on a whim less than two months ago and went on three different dates and was proposed to within her first 24 hours. She found her niche in the arts district of DTLA and couldn’t be happier. Being surrounded by go-getting, creative individuals in Tart’s apropos atmosphere was truly inspiring.


The first course was delicious fried green tomatoes with pickled grapes, goat cheese, and sorghum syrup.


The vegetarian main course: risotto with shredded brussells sprouts and poached egg.


Crispy skin salmon and butternut squash, brown butter pecans, and fried sage.



For dessert we had chocolate banana bread pudding with Nutella, bruleed banana, and vanilla ice cream.


The dinner was so much fun to be apart of. I loved talking with all our fascinating guests while enjoying incredible food. Our next dinner discussion will be revealed soon, and it’s limited to just fifteen guests so keep an eye out for the RSVP!
