Fine Art and Tattoos at Solid Gallery One
Walk one block north of Farmer’s Daughter on Fairfax, and you’ll find yourself at Solid Gallery One. It’s a tattoo parlor, it’s a fine art gallery, it’s one of the best spots in the Fairfax district. This artist-owned operation is, not surprisingly, all about the artists. Headed by Jarrett DeMartino, Solid Gallery One represents a varied representation of contemporary tattooing and its print and paint counterparts.
Walk-ins are welcome, but it’s certainly best to call or email ahead before trying to get a spot in the chair or tour of the gallery – both are by appointment, so don’t expect to get a seat on a whim. Solid Gallery One and many of its artists have been featured in just about every relevant tattooing publication and this level of artistry generally demands a bit of a wait.
The art gallery is located directly adjacent to the tattoo parlor and features works by tattoo artists and non-tattoo artists and has the same hours as the parlor – Tuesday – Saturday: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Monday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Guest artists are often accompanying Jarrett in the parlor, and half a dozen in the gallery, so head into Solid Gallery One and see one of L.A.’ s best tattoo shops and galleries for yourself.
