Tarfest Brings Free Music, Art and Food to the La Brea Tar Pits
The La Brea Tar Pits have wooly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers and a neanderthal or two, but next Saturday, September 20, the park opens itself up to a different species in need of preservation: local art. From 1 to 8pm, Tarfest 2014 brings Los Angeles-based painters, musicians, and chefs for a celebration of the artistic pulse of the city.
88.5 KCSN and LAUNCH LA collaborate once again bring Tarfest to the Miracle Mile, a celebration of Los Angeles art in its myriad forms. Music fans will be delighted at the lineup of up-and-comers performing for free on the park’s lawn: anthemic indie rockers Hunter Hunted, synth-pop group DWNTWN, and widescreen rockers The Moth & The Flame all play free sets. Fans of street art can enjoy the custom walls painted by local artists while they browse smaller pieces for sale in the marketplace. And of course, no afternoon LA festival is complete without food and beer, so expect plenty of food trucks and Laguintas beer (they’re a sponsor).
With no admission fee and such proximity to The Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, there’s absolutely no excuse to miss this one. We’ll see you at the Tar Pits!
